Any vehicle, one price
Cars, SUVs, 4WDs and utes are all the same flat $199. Larger vehicles get extra checks (underbody, towing, 4WD drivetrain) at no additional cost. Auto Assure sets the price directly — there are no vehicle-type surcharges.
Mobile or drop-off — same price
The one choice you make is how the inspection happens. A mobile inspection sends an Auto Assure inspector to the car anywhere in greater Brisbane; a drop-off uses the hoist at our Hendra inspection centre. Both are $199.
Fixed before you book
The $199 is set by Auto Assure and shown before you book. It is not a quote and does not change after the inspection.
No age or condition loading
Older or high-kilometre vehicles cost exactly the same to inspect. There are no supplements for age, condition, or how long the inspection takes.
Is a pre-purchase inspection worth the cost?
The inspection costs far less than a surprise mechanical fault after purchase. Three ways it pays for itself.
Finding a major mechanical fault
An engine or transmission fault on a used car can cost $3,000–$10,000+ to repair. A $199 inspection that finds the fault before you buy saves far more than it costs.
Negotiating a lower price
Even a clean inspection report gives you objective evidence to negotiate with the seller. Minor items the inspector flags — worn tyres, brake pads, a service overdue — are commonly used to negotiate hundreds off the asking price.

No. Every vehicle type is the same flat $199. Larger vehicles simply get extra checks — underbody, towing capacity, 4WD drivetrain — at no additional cost.
Does a mobile inspection cost more than dropping the car at your inspection centre?+
No — both are the same flat $199. Choose mobile when the seller won't release the car and an Auto Assure inspector will travel to it anywhere in greater Brisbane; choose drop-off at our Hendra inspection centre when you want full hoist access.
What if the car doesn't pass — do I get a refund?+
The inspection fee covers the inspector's time and the report — it applies whether the car passes or has problems found. If the car fails and you decide not to buy, that's the inspection doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Auto Assure's refund policy applies where a booking is cancelled before the inspection begins.
Is a cheaper inspection from a regular mechanic just as good?+
It depends on what you get. An Auto Assure inspection uses a standardised 104-point digital checklist, photos on every flagged item, and a structured PDF report — the same format every time. An informal "look over" from a mechanic who doesn't use a standardised checklist may miss items or deliver a verbal report with no documentation. Price matters less than scope and format.
Is a Queensland Safety Certificate cheaper — can I use that instead?+
A Queensland Safety Certificate (roadworthy) is a narrow legal check required to transfer ownership. It covers basic lights, brakes, tyres, and body items. It does not check the engine, transmission, suspension depth, electrical systems, or perform a road test. A pre-purchase inspection is a much broader assessment. They serve different purposes — you often want both.
