About AAPPI
What is AAPPI?+
AAPPI is Australia’s pre-purchase vehicle inspection marketplace. We connect used-car buyers with a vetted network of licensed Australian mechanics who run a 200+ point inspection on the car you’re about to buy and deliver a photo-backed PDF report.
What does AAPPI stand for?+
AAPPI stands for Auto Assure Pre-Purchase Inspection. It’s the brand name; everything in the marketplace is built around the pre-purchase inspection itself.
Where does AAPPI operate?+
AAPPI is launching in Brisbane in 2026. Mobile inspections cover the greater Brisbane area, and our verified partner workshops are in and around Brisbane. We’re expanding to other Australian cities next.
Is AAPPI available outside Brisbane?+
Not yet. Brisbane is our launch market for 2026. Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Perth, and Adelaide are next on the roadmap as our partner-workshop network grows.
Is AAPPI affiliated with NRMA, RACV, or RACQ?+
No. AAPPI is an independent Australian marketplace, not affiliated with any state motoring body. We work with independent local workshops vetted by AAPPI.
Do workshops join AAPPI?+
Yes. Workshops apply to become AAPPI partners and receive pre-paid inspection bookings through the marketplace, plus a digital checklist + report tool for their mechanics. If you run a Brisbane workshop, contact us — we’re actively onboarding.
About pre-purchase inspections
What is a pre-purchase inspection?+
A pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is a thorough mechanical check of a used car before you buy it. A licensed mechanic runs through 200+ checkpoints — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrics, body, interior, and a road test — and produces a written report so you can decide whether to buy, walk away, or negotiate.
Who performs the inspection?+
A licensed Australian mechanic with current trade qualifications, employed by an AAPPI-verified workshop. Every workshop on AAPPI has been through trade-licence verification, insurance check, and a sample-report quality review before going live.
What is included?+
A 200+ point inspection across 8 sections: engine + cooling, transmission + drivetrain, brakes, suspension + steering, electrics, body + paint, interior, and a road test. Every flagged item gets a photo and a pass / fail / advisory verdict. See the full breakdown on the sample report.
Is this the same as a roadworthy / safety certificate?+
No. A roadworthy (also called a Safety Certificate in QLD or a Pink Slip in NSW) is a narrow legal certificate confirming the car meets minimum on-road safety requirements. A pre-purchase inspection is much broader — it covers mechanical condition, wear, and repair needs that a roadworthy doesn’t. They’re complementary, not interchangeable.
How long does the report take?+
The on-site inspection takes 60–90 minutes. The PDF report is finalised and emailed within 1–3 business days, often the same day for inspections completed before noon.
Can I see a sample report?+
Yes. Every AAPPI inspection produces a PDF report in the same format. See the structure, the photo evidence, and the verdict ratings on the sample-report page.
What if the car fails inspection?+
You have three options: walk away, use the failed items to negotiate the price down by the cost of the repairs, or ask the seller to fix the items before purchase. The report is yours and the choice is yours.
Booking and payment
How much does it cost?+
Standard sedans and hatches start at $250. SUVs, 4WDs and utes start higher. Mobile inspections (where the inspector travels to the seller’s location) start at $399. Final pricing is shown by each workshop.
When do I pay?+
You pay AAPPI at the time of booking. The workshop confirms the time, performs the inspection, and we settle with the workshop weekly. You only ever transact with AAPPI.
Can I cancel?+
Yes. Cancellation windows are clearly shown when you book. If you cancel within the free window, we refund in full. If a workshop cancels for any reason, AAPPI rebooks you with another partner workshop or refunds you in full.
How quickly can I book an inspection?+
Most Brisbane bookings can be completed within 2–3 business days, often sooner if you book a mobile inspection. Same-week availability is the norm, not the exception.
