About AAPPI
Australia's pre-purchase vehicle inspection marketplace
AAPPI — Auto Assure Pre-Purchase Inspection — connects Australian used-car buyers with a vetted network of licensed mechanics. We digitised the entire process: finding a local workshop, booking, paying, the inspection itself, and the photo-backed PDF report — all in one platform.
What we do
Buyers find a used car they want, search AAPPI for a workshop near where the car is, book online, and the seller takes the car in. A licensed mechanic runs a 200+ point inspection, attaches photos to every issue found, and the buyer receives a PDF report within 1–3 business days.
Buyers use the report to buy with confidence, negotiate the price down, or walk away with evidence in hand.
Why we exist
Buying a used car is one of the largest cash purchases most Australians ever make, but the inspection process is still mostly offline: phone calls, no online booking, hand-typed reports, faxed PDFs, and zero comparable standard between workshops.
AAPPI exists to make a great inspection the easy default — not a privilege for buyers who happen to know a good mechanic.
What AAPPI is not
Clarity matters more than coverage. Here's what we're not, so you know exactly what to expect.
A car classifieds website. We don’t sell cars — we inspect cars you’ve found elsewhere (Carsales, Facebook Marketplace, dealerships, private sellers).
A general mechanic booking platform. AAPPI is built specifically for pre-purchase inspections, not regular servicing or repairs.
Affiliated with NRMA, RACV, RACQ, or any state motoring body. AAPPI is an independent marketplace.
A national chain. We’re a marketplace; the workshops are independent businesses we vet and partner with.
How we vet every workshop
Every AAPPI partner workshop has been through a four-step verification before they're visible to buyers.
Trade qualifications check
We verify every workshop has licensed Australian mechanics with current trade qualifications on staff before they accept a single AAPPI booking.
Insurance verification
Public liability and workshop insurance are confirmed at onboarding. No certificate, no listing.
Sample report quality review
Each workshop completes a test inspection before going live so the AAPPI team can confirm the digital checklist, photo evidence, and report structure meet our standard.
Honest reporting commitment
Workshops sign a code of practice — pass / fail / advisory ratings reflect what the mechanic finds, not what helps a sale go through.

Founder
[Founder name]
AAPPI is a Brisbane-headquartered startup founded in 2026. Our seed partner is Car One Automotive in Hendra, and we're onboarding additional Brisbane workshops every week.
Why Brisbane first? It's home for the founder, it has a high-density used-car market (Moorooka's Magic Mile is one of Australia's largest concentrated used-car strips), and the QLD Safety Certificate creates real consumer confusion about what a pre-purchase inspection actually covers — a gap AAPPI is built to close.
